Sicily, the largest Mediterranean island, is just off the tip of Italy. Its rich history is reflected in sites like the Valley of the Temples, the well-preserved ruins of 7 monumental, Doric-style Greek temples, and in the Byzantine mosaics at the Cappella Palatina, a former royal chapel in capital city Palermo. On Sicily’s eastern edge is Mount Etna, one of Europe’s highest active volcanoes.
Reaching Sicily from Malta is less than an hours’ flying in the Malta Wings Tecnam P2006T twin engine aircraft, so it is possible to do this as a day excursion. The trip starts at Malta International Airport, where you will be met at the Information kiosk by a representative of the company, and escorted through the terminal. After a short bus ride to the apron, you will find a beautiful aircraft and experienced pilot waiting for you.
The flight to Catania is less than an hour from Malta, or if you wish you can go to any of the other airports in Sicily such as Comiso, Palermo or Trapani. After landing you can exit the airport for a visit to the city and maybe have lunch and do some shopping, while the aircraft and pilot is waiting for you. On your return flight, you can choose to fly past Mount Etna or any of the other amazing sights of this island.
Although this flight is weather-dependant, it is possible to do during most of the long Mediterranean summer days. We invite you to a bird’s eye view of the dignified vine¬yards, ancient olive groves, hardy almond orchards and end¬less wheat fields set amongst green rolling hills.
