Malta Wings operates 4-seater Cessna 172s and a twin engine Tecnam P2006T. The aircraft are flown by highly qualified and experienced commercial pilots with thousands of flying hours. Due to the exceptional capabilities of these aircraft, Malta Wings can operate out of most airfields in Europe and North Africa.

The Tecnam P2006T, our ultra-modern twin engine aircraft, 9H-PAT and 9H- MEP, are available for advanced training, as well as MEP & IR renewals and revalidations.

The aircraft boasts a number of advantage over its direct competitors, such as better performance, great cabin comfort, and a higher service ceiling. The aircraft has a typical cruise speed of 145 knots at 75% power, a sea level rate of climb of 1260 feet per minute and a service ceiling of 15,000 feet. Measuring 3,35 meters’ length by 1,2 meters in width. Particularly special features include the up-turned, swept-back winglets which improves slow speed handling and the training link main undercarriage which is both robust and aesthetically pleasing.

9H-PAT is equipped with a Garmin G950 avionics suite, integrating all primary flight, navigation, communication and terrain data on two high-definition LCDs. The aircraft is also fitted with an S-Tec 55x high-performance, two-axis autopilot, with advanced features, as well as a WX-500 Stormscope Series II Weather Mapping Sensor.

9H-MEP is the latest addition to the fleet. This brand-new aircraft boasts the latest cockpit technology with the Garmin 1000Nxi avionics.

The Academy has the use of 3 Cessna 172 aircraft:  2 x C172M aircraft (9H-ACL, 9H-AEX and I-ACMX) available for hire.

Although visually quite similar to the 152, the 172 provides seating for up to four people, and offers a longer endurance.

The 172 is the ideal training aircraft for navigation training, as it has a higher cruising speed, more cockpit room for the pilots.

Measured by its longevity and popularity, the Cessna 172 is the most successful mass produced light aircraft in history. The first production models were delivered in 1956 and they are still in production.

The Cessna 172 started life as a relatively simple tricycle landing gear upgrade from the taildragger Cessna 170, with a basic level of standard equipment. The first flight of the prototype was in November 1955. The 172 became an overnight sales success and over 1400 were built in 1956, its first full year of production. Various models were added through the years, but this airframe configuration has remained almost unchanged since then, except for updates in avionics and engines.
